Myra Forsberg collaborated with critics in the Culture Department of The New York Times from 1983 to 2015. As Deputy Culture Editor, she helped to significantly expand the cultural coverage in all the arts sections.
She also wrote vibrant articles on film and theater for Arts & Leisure. As Weekend section editor, she supervised the successful transformation of the black and white Weekend section into a two-part color Weekend Arts section. She expanded visual arts coverage and created and edited vivid new columns for the section. She edited Weekend travel stories that were compiled into a book for Macmillan. She also edited Rick Lyman’s Watching Movies series of articles that were collected into a book for Times Books. And Forsberg edited many of the Weekend articles by the critic Michael Kimmelman that appear in his Random House book “Portraits: Talking with Artists at the Met, the Modern, the Louvre and Elsewhere.” As deputy Culture editor, Forsberg helped to significantly expand the cultural coverage in all the Arts sections and online. She supervised the editing, writing, design and photography of the daily Arts section. As classical music and dance editor, she assigned and edited news, reviews, feature articles, blog posts, videos and enterprise projects for Page A1, the daily Arts Section, Weekend, Arts & Leisure and the web. She also supervised the classical music and dance staff members and freelance critics.
