Graham Roberts is a five-time Emmy Award nominated Director of Immersive Platforms Storytelling at The New York Times, producing a wide range of visual journalism projects as part of the New York Times’s Graphics team.
His work focuses on new approaches in video, motion graphics, virtual reality and immersive visual storytelling, while building a team to innovate in this area.
365体育备用网址Roberts initiated R&D for Virtual Reality at The Times in 2014, and since joining the nascent NYTVR team at the end of 2015, has produced five virtual reality films across a range of subjects.
365体育备用网址Roberts’ work focuses on new approaches in video, motion graphics, virtual reality, and immersive visual storytelling, resulting in recognition by a number of award-giving bodies, including the Society of News Design, the Cooper Hewitt National Design Awards, the Edward R. Murrow Awards and the Pulitzer Awards.
He teaches motion graphics for journalism at the City University of New York’s Journalism School and occasionally speaks at schools and conferences — most recently in Chicago, Ljubljana, Rotterdam and Shenzhen.
365体育备用网址Roberts studied in the Digital Media Design program at the University of Pennsylvania — an interdisciplinary concentration focusing on the intersection of art and technology — earning a Bachelor’s degree in Science and Engineering.
He lives in Brooklyn with his wife, Jessica Ferri, a writer, singer and creator of Dearly Departed.
